Here’s a quick “How-To”: create your own mini-journals.
I found some really cute scrapbook paper in the clearance section of Homesense and couldn’t wait to use it.
I created two different kinds of writing paper – I wanted big, thick lines for Zach’s journals – so he can practice writing his name, and smaller lines for Hailey, with room for her to draw a picture – so she can write a story.
I printed the writing paper double-sided.
Cut both the scrapbooking paper and the writing paper to whatever size you’d like and fold them together – as a book.
I made Zach’s journals smaller than Hailey’s. I could get 4 journal pages from each sheet of writing paper for Zach’s journal and 2 journal pages from each sheet for Hailey’s.
Fill the journal with as many pages as you see fit, just make sure a needle will be able to go through. I only wanted 10 pages in each journal – ensuring Hailey and Zach would be able to fill their journals fairly quickly (it always feels good to finish something). With a needle and thread, run a few stitches through the spine of the journal and knot it. Or you could just run the spine of the journal through your sewing machine. It’s ready for writing!
